The inscription in Latin, Greek and Arabic of 1142, inside Palazzo Reale in Palermo, in memory of the hydraulic clock built by Ruggero II, attests to the intertwining of multiple cultures in the Norman era in Palermo – Italy.
It says:
“Ruggero, Lord and Magnificent ruler, ordered the construction of this watch in the year of the incarnation of the Lord 1142, in March, in the 13th year of his happy Kingdom”
